
Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a warm welcome from the Indian community on his arrival in Rio de Janeiro for a four-day visit to attend the 17th BRICS Summit. The diaspora greeted him with folk songs and cultural dances, including a performance themed on Operation Sindoor with ‘Ye Desh Nahi Mitne Dunga’ echoing through the venue. A Brazilian group also performed devotional music reflecting India’s spiritual heritage.
According to the official statement, the Prime Minister is also likely to hold several bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the Summit.
For the State Visit to Brazil, PM Modi will travel to Brasilia, where he will hold bilateral discussions with President Lula on the broadening of the Strategic Partnership between the two countries in areas of mutual interest, including trade, defence, energy, space, technology, agriculture, health and people-to-people linkages.
Earlier, members of the Indian diaspora, who were waiting to meet PM Modi, expressed their enthusiasm over his visit, calling it a privilege to welcome the PM.
PM Modi’s visit to Brazil marks a significant step in strengthening India’s global partnerships. His meetings with President Lula aim to expand cooperation in key sectors such as trade, defence, energy, and technology. The enthusiastic welcome by the Indian diaspora reflects not only strong cultural ties but also growing people-to-people connect.
