In a significant move to ease Bengaluru’s notorious traffic congestion, the newly constructed Hebbal Flyover Loop was officially inaugurated on August 18, 2025, by Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. The 700-metre loop, built at a cost of ₹80 crore within seven months, promises to reduce traffic load at the chaotic Hebbal Junction by approximately 30%.
This infrastructure upgrade is expected to bring relief especially for vehicles traveling from Nagawara towards Mehkri Circle, one of Bengaluru’s busiest and most congested nodes. Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar marked the occasion memorably by riding his vintage Yezdi RoadKing motorcycle on the new loop, reflecting his personal commitment to the city’s development.
The flyover loop is part of a larger plan linking Outer Ring Road to Bellary Road and KR Puram, helping streamline traffic flow impacting commuters en route to Kempegowda International Airport and IT corridors. While the current loop significantly eases congestion, further extensions and a new tunnel road from Esteem Mall to Baptist Hospital are planned to address traffic bottlenecks comprehensively.
Despite years of delays, redesigns, and controversies surrounding the Hebbal Junction flyover projects, this new flyover loop is a game changer, signaling the government’s commitment to improving Bengaluru’s infrastructure and commuter experience.
With ongoing efforts to expand and integrate this infrastructure, the Hebbal Flyover Loop stands as a promising step towards a smoother traffic ecosystem in the city.
